All I can say is... Wow. When they said they overhauled the Imperial Guard, they were not kidding. I picked it up yesterday and just finished flipping through it this morning while I was running some tests at work. I would say the Guard are a force to be reckoned with now.
The new orders from the officers can boost key areas when needed.
The heavy squadrons...yes squadrons of tanks, well you can imagine the look on your opponents face as you pull out 9 tanks for heavies alone.
And Hydras... don't get me started on Hydras as an Eldar player heh.
All in all, I think this is going to make the Guard a fun army for players again, but you can definately see codex creep.
Oh and this new trend with Imperial Psykers having access to better powers than Eldar... not cool I say!

New IG Release
So I got a chance this weekend to look at the new IG codex at the Alderwood Mall Games Workshop in Lynnwood, WA. It looks pretty slick. The new command squad orders are a nice touch. I have to admit, as an Eldar player, I can not say I am too happy about the IG getting a fast skimmer as a transport (>.< my wave serpent!). Over all though, it looks like a nice upgrade for IG players.

Table Done, First 5th Ed. Game Played...
Welp, we got the table done. A nice 6' x 4' desert terrain table. I bought the new GW green mat to roll out over it if we want to play on forest/plains. It really turned out pretty well. I'll try to get some pictures.
I played my first 5th edition game a couple weeks ago. A friend of mine brought over his dark eldar and we had a 1500 point base objective game. Sadly, I lost horribly. The dice were definately not on my side. 22 d6 rolled at once, with a 3+ required to hit, and I only got 3 hits *laughs* That was the trend for the game. Even tho, I made a run out of it.
Unfortunately, I've still not done much more on my WindRider Host *sighs* I really want to get this stuff painted and in use, but I just seem to lack the motivation anymore.

Busy times...
So I guess I've been away for a bit. I did get some of the magnets attached and going on the WindRider host I was working on, but something else has been taking up my time lately.
I am buying a house. Go me and what not. Now I will have a room dedicated to 40k (and other gaming heh). A nice 6'x3' table up full time to play on!
Hopefully this means I will be doing a lot more! As the table gets built, I'll post pictures!

Being sick sucks...
From Monday evening until today, I've been pretty sick... I got some more work on my guardian squads completed and ordered the magnets for my other stuff. They should be here today. Also, last Monday (14th), I got a $100 Games Workshop gift card for my birthday. Yesterday, I went down and bought a new pinning tool, a squad of Dire Avengers, and a 2nd Fire Prism... mmmm MEQ destruction...
So, yet again, plenty to do as if I didn't have enough already!

Assembly Complete...
This is what 10 Guardian Jetbikes, 2 Vypers and 1 Autarch on a Jetbike look like, ready to prime and paint. They aren't actually glued together fully yet, just mostly assembled that way I can paint them easier. Also I need to order some magnets to use on the Vypers for weapon swapping.
And this guy is going to be interesting to paint, that's for sure.

7 Down, lots to go
So the Windrider Host Apocolypse set comes with 9 guardian jetbikes, 1 autarch on a jetbike and 2 Vypers. I also had 3 unassembled jetbikes from my original battle force set. Currently I now have assembled 7 jetbikes, 3 to go. I am keeping 2 in reserve to convert to a warlock and farseer onto jetbikes.
Once I have my 10 jetbikes, my autarch, 2 vypers and a fire prism assembled, I'm going to base them and try something new... air brushing! Hopefully I don't trash them too bad heh.
